Both of the teams playing in tonight's Division I-AA (or whatever the hell they want to be called these days) championship have peaked at the right time of the season. Appalachian State looked fantastic on offense last week, though, and I don't believe there are many small-school teams that can hang with them when they're running like that. I'll make my bet on them tonight.

Thursday night comes with no wagers made
Much like Monday night, my gut is telling me to make one bet (the Broncos over the Texans) but my brain has me on hold. The line -- a pick 'em for most of the week, now putting the Broncos as a 2.5-point favorite -- looks razor sharp. I just don't see much advantage to either side right now, and I don't like the Over/Under (bad defenses, but Houston is banged up).
As much as I'm ...
Staying on the MNF sidelines
I just can't bring myself to make any full-game bets today on the Saints/Falcons Monday Night Football game. My gut is screaming at me to bet New Orleans, but my brain is telling me to beware of an inconsistent Saints team. So I'm going to make myself listen to my brain (even though I really expect they'll pound a bad Atlanta team) and keep my wallet closed.
If I see any good opportunities at the half, ...
Back to earth with my betting
After getting so extremely lucky last Monday night -- turning a big loss into a moderate gain by making a bet I really had no business making -- it's time to get serious about the NFL again. No stupid bets, no bets too large. Here's what I'm on today:
ACTION: 12/09
Browns at Jets (+3.5)
Browns at Jets (Over 47)
Chargers (+1) at Titans
Chargers (pk) at Titans
Chargers (team Over 20) at Titans
Giants (+3) ...
A very Brady MNF
I'll go on record as saying I think the New England Patriots will lose a football game this season. That loss won't come tonight, though. The Baltimore Ravens have a hard enough time scoring any points as it is, ranking 26th in the NFL in points scored, let alone against a fourth-ranked New England defense that didn't play up to standards in the first half of last week's scare from the Eagles.
The Patriots, on the ...
Closing college football's regular season
Today's the day for conference championship games, the Army/Navy matchup and a few other wrapup games. That means not a lot of bets for me.
ACTION: 12/01
Louisiana Tech (+8) at Nevada
North Texas (-1.5) at Florida Intl.
Tulsa at Cent. Florida (-7)
Washington at Hawaii (-13.5)
I may be looking to add a few Over/Under bets, and maybe an additional underdog wager if the line creeps up to where I want, but nothing's solid so ...
Game was as good as hoped
By all rights this should have been a 4-0 night with a nice profit for me. But Terrell Owens' strange muff of a would-be touchdown pass cost me my second-half team total play on Dallas, and a lucky 62-yard run from Ryan Grant lost that prop bet for me. Even with that I turned a tiny profit on the evening, and the game was just as good as I had hoped. I can't complain about ...
