Riding with the faves on Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. I absolutely loving completely relaxing all day long, enjoying wonderful food (I've got a smoked turkey delivered from a great place in Tyler, Texas, I'm really looking forward to having), sipping wine and coffee spiked with Johnny Walker throughout the day, and paying half-attention to day-long football while I fight the urge to nap. It's a recipe for making a man feel content, I tell you.
I like the holiday games going on this year, and I find myself leaning strongly toward the favorites. In the NFL, it's simply because the Cowboys and the Packers are both clicking so well on offense right now. I'm not sure there are any NFC teams that can hang with them playing like they are.
I'm staying away from the nighttime NFL game because the Colts have been hit hard by the injury bug, but I really like USC in the college tilt. After some slipups earlier in the season, the Trojans are playing extremely well right now. I expect they'll bump off the Sun Devils and potentially turn the Pac-10 standings into a confusing mess the IRS would be proud of (Oregon topping UCLA could head that off, of course). College football has been a cluster this season, why should that conference be any different.
ACTION: 11/22
Jets at Cowboys (-13.5)
Packers (-3) at Lions
USC (-3) at Arizona St.
