Redneck High

Today ended up being only a .500 day (6-6-1), but one that netted a small profit, as several of my larger plays came in winners. Two odd things happened, though, that kept today from being one with a nice profit, and that just typify my 2007 college season.

Weirdness No. 1
Having taken Penn State at -4 in the second half, the Nittany Lions proceed to botch the simplest of plays, an extra point. They go on to outscore Purdue in the half, but give up a meaningless trash field goal. Instead of a 5-point differential, the muffed PAT gave me only a Push.

Weirdness No. 2
A minute into the final quarter, the UTEP Miners scored another touchdown to take a 48-28 lead over the Rice Owls. As I had UTEP -7 for the game, I was all but counting my profits. Cue the Owls to turn into the New England Patriots, somehow putting up 28 unanswered points to not only cover the spread, but to win the game pulling away.

That's how 2007 has been.
