Tracking my 2007 fantasy football picks

Parity in college; Looking forward to Pats/Cowboys

Oct 14, 2007, 11:19am | Posted by Steve

It was very much a mixed bag in college football yesterday. My biggest bets won — including that nice middle in the Missouri/Oklahoma game — but I got nickeled and dimed to death by small losses. I have never seen a college season like this. There are no teams that qualify for the title of "very good," and no conferences have impressed as a whole.

Since it's clear mediocrity rules this year, I'm going to take a little time this week to re-evaluate by college betting plan. Might be time to go into a mode where fewer bets are made and just wait until the bowl games to try and capitalize then.

Here's how it shook out this Saturday:

10/13 College Results

Bowling Green (team Over 29) at Miami, Ohio - Loss
BYU (-7 2H) at UNLV - Win
Colorado (+5.5) at Kansas St. - Loss
E. Carolina at UTEP (-2) - Loss
Georgia Tech at Miami (-2) - Loss
Georgia Tech at Miami (Over 42) - Loss
Illinois (-3) at Iowa - Loss
Louisville at Cincinnati (-10) - Loss
Louisville at Cincinnati (-6 2H) - Loss
Missouri (+13) at Oklahoma - Win
Missouri at Oklahoma (-9) - Win
Missouri at Oklahoma (Under 31 2H) - Loss
New Mexico at Wyoming (-3) - Loss
New Mexico St. at Louisiana Tech (Over 23 2H) - Win
Oregon St. at Cal (-7 2H) - Loss
Rutgers (-7 2H) at Syracuse - Win
San Diego St. (+14.5) at Utah - Loss
Texas (-16) at Iowa St. - Win
Texas (-7 2H) at Iowa St. - Win

(For final scores, see the season record page.)

There's a nice slate of NFL games today, including that Patriots/Cowboys game I'm really looking foward to watching. Unfortunately I bet I don't get to see the end of it. I have a softball game at 7pm, which means I may have to leave the house before the Cowboys pull off this upset. (See, I'm confident. Mostly because New England is due for a letdown.)

ACTION: 10/14

Bengals at Chiefs (+3)
Eagles (-3) at Jets
Patriots at Cowboys (+5)
Patriots at Cowboys (ML)
Raiders at Chargers (-9.5)
Texans (team Over 14.5) at Jaguars
Titans (+3) at Buccaneers
Titans at Buccaneers (Under 38)

It's been a nice day in NFL betting (Dallas isn't going to cover, but everything else has been coming up on the right side for me, minus one push), so I'm going put a trio of plays down on the Nevada/Boise State game. It's really best not to overthink things when Boise State is at home on their blue field — they love to run up the score — so I'll take them cover 1H and full game, and go with the Over.

COLLEGE ACTION: 10/14

Nevada at Boise St. (-14 1H)
Nevada at Boise St. (-25)
Nevada at Boise St. (Over 61)
