All eyes on Hawaii
Hawaii finally gets a chance to play in the spotlight tonight and it ends up happening with a banged-up quarterback on a soggy field. Not exactly ideal condtions for the Warriors' run-and-shoot offense. Still, you know coach June Jones is going to do his best to run up the score. He knows tonight's his big chance to make an impression on poll voters and football fans.
With Colt Brennan's ankle bothering him (and a muddy field is a recipe for aggravating that) and the mushy conditions in San Jose, putting those buckets of points on the board isn't going to be as easy as Hawaii usually makes it seem. They're going to need to press.
My plays on this game are both first-half bets. They almost function as a hedge against each other, as if there are more than 5 touchdowns scored before the half I expect most would come from Hawaii. But I like my chances at winning both of these 1H wagers. I look for Hawaii to play with a berzerker's energy from the get-go, while I look for San Jose to keep things down in the mud to try and slow the Warriors down. This makes me look for a first half with a score of something like 21-7 in favor of U of H.

I hope to get a situation where I can add second-half plays. If that works out, I'll add them to this post.
Last night's Florida State play was a bust — Bobby Bowden's team is sloppy and easily discouraged when the tide turns against them. I'm glad it was just a small bet.

The field's every bit as sloppy in San Jose as I thought it might be. My first-half Under came in easily, but a SJSU punt return for a touchdown and a last-second Hawaii missed field goal (lousy muddy field) cost me my points bet. I don't think there will be field goals made in this game, and the teams are having to slog it out on offense a little at a time, so I like the Under 28.5 bet I made for the second half. I think it will take 5 touchdowns to beat me, and I really don't expect that in these conditions.

A must-see post from Ollie. He has a run-in with bad men in Budapest.
