Coming down hard against Rice

Oct 3, 2007, 11:49am | Posted by Steve

Rice looked so good last season — by Rice standards, of course — even going to a bowl game for the first time since 1961. Then head coach Todd Graham left for Tulsa and offensive coordinator Major Applewhite went to Alabama, now Rice is back to being the same doormat they've been for 45 years.

Southern Mississippi is down to their third-string quarterback, but I don't think it'll make much of a difference in this game, as there are good high school teams that would give the Owls a run for their money. Southern Miss will probably run, run, run all night, and I look for them to easily cover the 20 points by which they're favored.

I'm feling confident that Southern Miss dominates tonight, so I'm making four different bets: full game, first half, first quarter and second quarter. Let's hope they all pan out.

ACTION: 10/03

Rice at So. Mississippi (-11 1H)

Rice at So. Mississippi (-20)

Rice at So. Mississippi (-4.5 1Q)

Rice at So. Mississippi (-6.5 2Q)
