Tracking my 2007 fantasy football picks

I snoozed, I lost

Before going to bed last night I scoured the online books looking to get the Saints -3 at Tampa Bay today, but the juice was too high everywhere I looked. The best I could find for buying it down from -3.5 was -125. I thought, "I'll just sleep on it. Maybe in the morning the line will have drifted down that extra half-point."

Didn't work out that way. When I woke up today the line on the Saints had jumped all the way up to -4.5. This tells me two thing:

  1. If I really like a bet at a certain number, I shouldn't worry too much about higher juice.
  2. Some big players have put a bunch of money on the Saints overnight.

Knowing the Big Boys like New Orleans makes me feel even better about the bet, so I'm playing it in two ways.

  1. A straight bet at -4, bought down from -4.5. The juice was still too high for what I really like (it was -120), but I my confidence in winning is high.
  2. I paired it with the afternoon's Chiefs/Bears game in a teaser, getting the Saints at +1.5 and the Bears at -5.5. This is something of a hedge. Just in case New Orleans wins or loses in a squeaker and the Bears don't blow out a lousy Kansas City.

Here are all the bets I have working on this lovely Sunday:

ACTION: 09/16

Jets at Ravens (Under 33.5)

Saints (-4) at Buccanners

Seahawks (-3) at Cardinals

TEASER: Saints (+1.5) at Buccanners & Chiefs at Bears (-5.5)

3:40pm
After the Dophins scored first, the live-betting line on the Cowboys went positive briefly, meaning a winning bet will pay more than I wager. I like that, so I'm adding a bet:

Added bet: 09/16

Cowboys (-3.5) at Dolphins

4:30pm
Dallas is really looking to be the better team in this game, and the Dolphins are just scratching to keep it close. I look to Dallas to open the gap in the second half.

Added bet: 09/16

Cowboys (-.5 2H) at Dolphins
