Tracking my 2007 fantasy football picks

Today's card is a full one

Sep 15, 2007, 10:18am | Posted by Steve

Time to get another happy Saturday of college football started. None of the games I'm really interested in start before 2pm, so I've even got a chance to run a few errands before turning on the TV.

I'm playing a few more underdogs this week than I have in weeks past. We're getting to the point in the season where it's getting more difficult for favorites to cover time after time. I'm even betting against high-powered Oklahoma to cover their giant spread, but that's just because I think Bob Stoops has very little to gain by running up the score against Utah State, only injuries to risk. With in-state rival Tulsa next week and conference play the week after that, I expect a conservative game plan (by Stoops standards) and backups getting a lot of playing time.

Here's what I'm on today, and there are lots of them.

ACTION: 09/15

Arkansas at Alabama (-3)

Army at Wake Forest (-19.5)

Boston College (+7) at Georgia Tech

Hawaii (team Over 42) at UNLV

SMU at Arkansas St. (-3)

Texas (-16.5) at Central Florida

Texas (team Over 33) at Central Florida

Texas Tech (-28) at Rice

Texas Tech (team Over 46) at Rice

Utah St. (+46) at Oklahoma

There are also a few matchups I've been eyeing and have been tempted to bet. Haven't been able to convince myself to put money on them. Not so far, at least.

Leans

Ohio (+21) at Virginia Tech

Michigan (-9) at Notre Dame

Louisiana Tech (+33) at Cal

Florida International (+33) at Miami

9:12pm
Nebraska is doing their best to hang in there with Southern Cal, and have kept the first half of the game fairly close, but it's becoming obvious that USC is the better team. I expect they'll pull away handily after the half.

Added bet: 09/15

USC (-3.5) at Nebraska

10:19pm
UNLV is trying to run a slowdown game against Hawaii out in the desert — like most opponents try when playing the pass-happy Warriors — and have had some success doing so. But the U of H offense is beginning to get in gear, and no coach likes running up the score like June Jones. I like Hawaii to pour on the gas in the second half.

Added bet: 09/15

Hawaii (-7 2H) at UNLV
