Tracking my 2007 fantasy football picks

A small profit that came close to being a big one

Tonight ended up being a busy one. I originally had only one bet placed on the Middle Tennessee State/Louisville game, but once it begin opportunities kept presenting themself. I ended up placing five wagers in total on the game, winning three of them. The net of that was only a tiny profit, a few dollars after the juice on my losing plays was subtracted.

But it was close to being very profitable. Going into the final quarter I had a nice middle working — already having taken the Under 37.5 for the second half, 13 points were scored in the third quarter, and I bet the Over 16.5 for the fourth quarter. I liked my chances of winning both ends of those bets. As it turns out, two touchdowns were scored in the final period and it was looking like Louisville would seal things in the final few minutes with either a last touchdown or field goal. But a senseless personal fould on a Cardinals offensive lineman backed the team out of field goal range, and the team then ran the clock out with small, clock-eating runs up the middle.

Ah, well. That's how it works sometimes. It was a smart play and I would have been awfully happy had it worked out.
