A Big 12 bust, but at .500
Going into Saturday evening my first week's betting was looking really good. I went 2-0 on Friday and started that same way on Saturday. But then the evening games started… My Big 12 nighttime plays — both Texas and Oklahoma — knocked me back down to .500. I bet the Under 56 in the OU game and JUST missed that by, oh, 33 points. At least I don't have to say my loss was a cheapie.
As a Longhorn fan, Texas' performance in squeaking past Arkansas State concerns me. The team looked uninspired, sloppy and lazy. The defense, especially the pass defense, looked soft. If they don't improve in a big way and in a big hurry, there will be losses on the way this season. TCU comes to Austin next Saturday, and the Horned Frogs are a darned good team.
