Tracking my 2007 fantasy football picks

The big matzo ball is still hanging

7pm - ADDED PLAY: I finally got a first-half line I like on the late Louisiana Tech/Hawaii game, so I'm adding the following bet:

11/11 ACTION

Louisiana Tech at Hawaii, Over 37.5 1H, $55/$50

My gut-check weekend — the one I stole a line from "Seinfeld" to describe — started in the right way with a UTEP win on Friday night, and I'm going to hope that's a good omen.

11/10 RESULT

UTEP (+2) at UAB - Win, $55/$50

(For final score, see the season record page.)

After some more study, I've decided to back off the bet I had orignally placed on Tulsa at -14 hosting Rice. I still feel like it's likely Tulsa covers that number, but I question the team's motivation, so I don't want to risk my money on that game. As it worked out, I could actually hit a semi-middle on the game, since my back-off bet got Rice at +14.5. Should the game end with Tulsa winning by exactly 14 I would get a push on one play and a win on the other. That would be a nice bonus.

I also took a look at the Team Total lines and couldn't believe the Texas Longhorns are only at 32.5. I'm really expecting a blowout win for the Horns, and it wouldn't surprise me at all to see them put up close to 50. I jumped on that for another 2-unit bet.

11/11 ACTION

Purdue (+3) at Illinois, $55/$50

Baylor at Okla. St. (-15.5), $55/$50

Rice at Tulsa (-14), $55/$50

Rice (+14.5) at Tulsa), $55/$50

Texas Tech at Oklahoma (-9, $55/$50)

Texas (-17) at Kansas St., $56.20/$50

Texas at Kansas St., Over 49, $110/$100

Texas at Kansas St., Texas Over 32.5, $115/$100

La. Tech at Hawaii, Over 75, $52.50/$50

That's a total of 5 units I've got riding on Texas this Saturday — 5 big units — so I really need a big Longhorns win. The team's motivation level should be extremely high after seeing Louisville — a team ahead of them in the BCS standings — lose Thursday. That's one reason I expect a large margin of victory. The other reason is that Texas is flat-out much better than KSU, and the team is really hitting a groove.

If I win a little early in the day, I'm still very much considering a first-half play on the Louisiana Tech/Hawaii game. Hawaii lights it up early when they're playing at home, and they've been a nice bet all season.

You may notice a discrepancy of about $60 in how much I have risked vs. how much is remaining in my budget. This is because I earned a small free play from one of my sportsbooks and won a few dollars on a World Series game a few weeks ago.
