Tracking my 2007 fantasy football picks

A whole passel of plays for 10/28

Oct 27, 2006, 11:30pm | Posted by Steve

10:55pm - VERY, VERY LATE ADDED: My first-half bets on Hawaii went so well — I won both them both — that I'm going to put a little more on the Warriors in the second half. Not a heavy bet, only two-thirds of a unit. I'm getting Hawaii at -8.5 after the intermission

By the way, if you're staying up late listening to Hawaii on the Internet, you're a serious gambler.

10/28 ADDED

Idaho at Hawaii (-8.5 2H)

10:55pm - VERY LATE ADDED BETS: Last game of the day is the Idaho Vandals (that's right, the Vandals) at Hawaii. When they're playing on the island the Warriors (they're not the Rainbow Warriors anymore, they thought that sounded gay) have a tendency to score a boatload in the first half, then slack off a little bit. So I'll up my already-existing first-half on Hawaii at -14, making it now a unit and a half, and adding a unit and half bet on the Over 35.

10/28 ADDED

Idaho at Hawaii (-14 1H) - increased from 1 unit to 1.5 units

Idaho at Hawaii, Over 35 1H) - 1.5 units

10/28 ADDED

Texas at Texas Tech, Over 28.5 2H

7:45pm - ADDED BET: Bigtime shootout going on in Lubbock. Texas trails by 10 at the half, but I still think they end up winning the game, and that means lots of points. So I'm taking the Over 28.5 in the second half.

10/28 ADDED

Texas at Texas Tech, Over 28.5 2H

5:45pm - ADDED PLAYS: Looking like a decent day so far, as both of my double-sized bets have already one. I'm going to try and keep it going with four added bets — two only for a half-unit (there's ugly weather in Toledo, so I'm hitting a pair of Under bets), a same-game teaser on the Texas/Texas Tech game, and a first-half bet on Hawaii for the first half (they love to rack up big points before intermission when they play on the island).

10/28 ADDED

Akron at Toledo, Under 23 1H

Akron at Toledo, Under 45.5

Teaser: Texas (-3) at Texas Tech & Over 48

Idaho at Hawaii (-14 1H)

Saturday could be either a very profitable day for me, or a huge blow to the wallet. I had shied away from large cards in recent weeks, and that's been a good move for me. But there are a lot of lines I like for Oct. 28. I've got two bets on BYU over Air Force (one at -7.5, the other at -7) and a double-unit bet on the underdog Oklahoma Sooners at Missouri.

Here's my full slate:

10/28 ACTION

BYU (-7) at Air Force

BYU (-7.5) at Air Force

Michigan St. (-7) at Indiana

Minnesota at Ohio St. (-26.5)

Nebraska (-5.5) at Okla. St.

Nebraska at Okla. St., Over 54

Oklahoma (+2.5) at Missouri - 2 units

Texas (-9) at Texas Tech

Washington St. at UCLA (-1.5)

Lean

10/29 Connecticut (+19.5) at Rutgers

I feel especially good about the BYU and Nebraska plays. Air Force was absolutely horrific against a lousy San Diego State team last week, losing straight up. BYU should show them way more offense than they can handle. Nebraska probably should have beaten Texas last week — OK, they definitely should have, I'm just glad they didn't — and a banged-up Okie State team should be what's need to kick their offense into high gear. I took the Huskers to cover 5.5 points as well as betting the Over 54 in the game. I'm thinking 40 of those points will be scored by Nebraska.

My favorite bet, though, is the Oklahoma Sooners as underdogs on the road against Missouri. I was shocked to see Mizzou favored, even with OU missing their stud running back. This Missouri team is very good…by Missouri standards. But they have nowhere near the talent the Sooners do. Mizzou has been getting a ton of ink this year, all playing up how fantastic they are. They're overrated. It'll show Saturday.

Betting my found money

I mentioned earlier this week about the $10 I unexpectedly found in an old account I no longer use. I placed a parlay bet with that. It'd pay $26.57 if it hit.

Found-money parlay bet

BYU (-7.5) at Air Force / Oklahoma (+2.5) at Missouri
