Redneck High

It was a .500 Saturday as far as picking wins and losses, but down 1 unit as far as the cash goes, since one of my losses was a 2-unit bet on the Texas/Nebraska game. Closer to a unit and a half down on the day, when you take into the account the juice lost on losing bets.

I should never have lost that bet, by the way. My wager was on Texas to beat Nebraska by at least 6 points. In reality they were lucky to escape with a 22-20 win, but it never should have been that close. By my count there were 15 more points that Texas should have scored but didn't. Twice the Longhorns had 1st down from inside the Nebraska 10 — once from inside the 2 — and had to settle for a field goal instead of a touchdown, they missed two field goals and had an extra point blocked.

The kicks were just because the Longhorn kicker sucks, but dogass offensive coordinator Greg Davis cost Texas at least two touchdowns because of his terrible play-calling. My favorite was on 3rd and goal at about the Nebraska 3. Instead of calling a bootleg or just a plunge up the middle, he chose to go with a trick play. Problem was it was the same trick play that Arkansas used in its upset of Auburn two weeks ago. The same trick play that's been splashed all over TV and around the Internet. The one trick play every football player is guaranteed to have seen.

Needless to say it didn't work. And, as far as I'm concerned, dogass Davis should not only be fired, but he also owes me the money I lost on this game.
