Tracking my 2007 fantasy football picks

Twice in two nights

Oct 9, 2006, 10:44pm | Posted by Steve

I wrote earlier about my lousy reversal of fortune at the end of Sunday's Cowboys/Eagles game. I'll be damned if almost the very same thing didn't happen to me again tonight. Again, I had three bets working:

1. Ravens (+6) at Broncos
2. Game: Over 33
3. Second Half: Ravens Over 6.5

The setup tonight had the Ravens trailing 13-3 with about a minute and a half to play. Steve McNair drove his team well into Denver territory, and again it was looking good for me to win two of my three bets. If Baltimore can score a touchdown and extra point, I'm all but assure of winning by bet on them, as the score would be 13-10 with only a few seconds on the clock. I would also win my second-half bet on the Ravens, as it would give them 7 points.

McNair then chose his timing carefully, waiting until there were 39 seconds to play before pulling a Bledsoe and throwing an interception. With one bad pass, I went from looking at winning two of three to losing all three.

10/9 RESULTS

Ravens (+6) at Broncos - Loss, $25.30

Ravens at Broncos, Over 33 - Loss, $31.50

Ravens at Broncos, Ravens Over 6.5 2H - Loss, $40.50

This is really too much. I'm going to start singing with those "Gloom, Despair and Agony on Me" guys from "Hee-Haw." You know the song, the one that says, "If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all."
