Tracking my 2007 fantasy football picks

A losing day, but one I didn't mind

Oct 7, 2006, 11:03pm | Posted by Steve

I got all excited today because of the Texas/OU game (and the Longhorns' impressive win) and started betting everything in site. Not smart at all, but it made for a fun day. I figure that's OK every so often.

Of course when betting like this it's pure luck if you win much, and I didn't have luck. I lost almost everything, going 3-8 on the day (a final bet on the very late Nevada/Hawaii game is still out). Could have been a much better 5-6 day were it not for two backdoor covers in the Pitt/Syracuse and Nebraska/Iowa State games. That Nebrasksa/ISU was my favorite backdoor cover of a second-half bet, because it was a completely meaningless score that came with all of 6 seconds left on the clock.

Who's a lucky boy? Not me.

(For final scores, see the season record page.)

I'm not bitching, though. Today was a very fun day. I had a great time watching the Longhorns win with a bunch of friends, and even didn't mind losing my poorly thought-out spur-of-the-moment bets. I'll get more serious and disciplined the rest of the season, but I had a good time tossing money around today.

Texas looked good, yo. This might have been Colt McCoy's real arrival. He finally looked more poised than just a plain ol' freshman. That's very good news for the Horns.
