The churning of my stomach
I hate betting nights like this. Hate them. Hate the whole last week I've had, in fact.
Florida State has fallen so far from just a few years back. Not only are they a mere shadow of Seminole teams past, they're only a mid-level team, at best. To top it off, it's clear that Bobby Bowden has become gutless in his old age.
As bad as Florida State was, it was TCU that turned my stomach. The Horned Frogs looked like they didn't even want to be there. They were missing easy throws, dropping passes and turning the ball over all night. One loss to BYU last week and TCU hung it up for the season. They've quit already.
10/5 RESULTS
Florida St. (-10) at NC State - Loss, $67.80
TCU (-2.5) at Utah - Loss, $30.90
TCU (+1) at Utah - Loss, $32.10
My betting is colder than a pimp's heart. I've got two college bets still pending and I'm not inclined to place anymore. Not on my own, at least. Maybe I'll give the picking a break for the rest of this week and see if I can find someone hot and tail them on a few games.

Bummer. (However, I would have been a winner last night with my contra-Steve, embrace-the-dog strategy.) I will be at the Texas-OU game tomorrow cheering for Texas, but I can't believe that Texas is favored. If I were a gambler I would certainly take OU and the points. This game looks to be a rerun of the 14-3 "classic" in which Greg Davis' game plan was simply to try not to lose and sought to protect his inexperieinced quarterback from embarrasment.

Steve, I don't like the fact that you bet on Texas at the rate things are going for you. It looks like Gregg's anti-Steve strategy has turned out to be a pretty good move. When do you make the dreaded "reach of shame"?

If I were a gambler, and being true to my "go-dog-go" strategy, this is what I would bet this weekend.
OU + 4 vs Texas. (see above comments)
Kansas + 2 vs Texas A&M: Again, I just cannot fathom betting on the aggies and giving up points…on the road…against anyone.
Miss St + 24 vs W. Va: West Virginia is highly rated because they are a good team (not a great team) playing a joke schedule.
Baylor + 4.5 vs Colorado: Baylor is better than Montana State and Colorado State.
Iowa State + 4.5 vs Nebraska: How can Iowa State give up 4.5 points at home against a team that had to go to overtime to beat Kansas?

I don't know, Gregg, I think Texas is a much better team than OU, top to bottom. But you're right, if Greg Davis gets scared, as he's known to do, that changes everything.
Please, please, please some college hire him away from Texas.
