Tracking my 2007 fantasy football picks

Plays for 9/30 and 10/1

Sep 29, 2006, 12:19am | Posted by Steve

Even as I'm still smarting from that stinkin' 1-point beat on my Thursday Over bet I made my picks for this weekend's game. There wasn't a whole lot in the college lines that looked like value to me, but I'll be watching one in hopes the line moves the way I want, and I've gone ahead and put money on 3 NFL games I like the looks of.

ACTION

9/30 Ohio State (-7) at Iowa (previously placed)

9/30 Colorado at Missouri, Under 38.5

9/30 Houston at Miami, Over 48.5

9/30 Purdue (+14) at Notre Dame

10/1 Chargers (-2.5) at Ravens

10/1 Jaguars (-3) at Redskins

10/1 Vikings (+1) at Bills

I believe the line on Ohio State briefly dropped to -6.5 earlier today, but I didn't see it until it was already back to -7. I'm watching that line closely, and if I can catch that extra half-point, I'm very likely to double my bet on Ohio State.

I like that Jacksonville game too. Their D looks very strong and Washington's offense has been pretty unimpressive.

The only things about that Jags/Skins game that give me pause are that it's played at Washington and they have Clinton Portis playing again. But I don't think it'll make enough of a difference to sway me off those 3 points.

My "contra-Steve, love-the-dog" strategy leaves Iowa+7 as my only "bet" this week. But I like it. Iowa at home as a dog is OK.

Being that I am a lover of dogs and a homer for Texas schools, I would place these bets:

Rice + 11 against Army. Rice was respectable against UCLA, and 11 points is a lot for Army to give up.

Houston + 16.5 against Miami. Houston is not bad and Miami is reeling. Plus, it might rain.

Baylor + 1.5 against Kansas St. Baylor is close to breaking through and Kansas St is quickly reverting to its pre-Snyder status.

    Texas Tech + 2 against A & M. I just can't believe this A & M team is giving up points, especially against Tech.

  4. Steve says:

You know, I came somewhat close (not real close, just somewhat) to betting KSU over Baylor. I think this Baylor team is a very bad one, and has gotten worse as the season went on. I'm not sure they're going to win another game.

Tech/A&M I was completely undecided about. Neither team is any good, and Tech isn't even scoring much this season, unless they get to beat up on Division I-AA schools. I don't like either team, and I wish there was a way they could both lose.
