Tracking my 2007 fantasy football picks

Plays for 9/16-17

Sep 15, 2006, 12:09am | Posted by Steve

It's something of a larger card than usual for me this week, with 7 college plays on Saturday and a pair of NFL games Sunday. While I'm not going to get greedy and hope for a sweep (wouldn't that be nice, though?), I feel good about the odds for a winning weekend. Here are the plays I have made:

ACTION

Akron (-1) at Central Michigan

Cincinnati at Ohio St. (-29)

Florida (-3.5) at Tennessee

Miami (+4.5) at Louisville

Michigan at Notre Dame (-4.5)

Nebraska (+18) at USC

Oklahoma at Oregon (-4.5)

Giants (+3) at Eagles

Saints (-2) at Packers

A quick rundown of why I made a few of the picks:

Cincinnati at Ohio State

The question I really looked at answering was not if Ohio State will beat the 29-point spread, but will Ohio State score at least 30, because I won't be surprised at all to see Cincy shut out completely. And, yes, it should be as easy for OSU to score 30 as it is for a titty dancer to get a musician boyfriend.

Florida at Tennessee

I underestimated the Vols once already this season, against Cal in the season opener, but this year's Gator team is a good one, and Tennessee looks sporadic at best. If I'm wrong again, it'd probably be best I lay off Tenneesee games the rest of the season.

Michigan at Notre Dame

Maybe I'm a sucker for the Notre Dame PR machine, but I think the Irish are for real this year.

Oklahoma at Oregon

The best Ducks team in several years hosts an Oklahoma squad about three notches down from the tough guys they were three and four years back. I see Oregon winning by 10-14.

Nebraska at USC

Lots and lots of distractions for Southern Cal this week, with the stories coming out about Reggie Bush gettin' PAID while he was there, and a buzz starting that not only might Bush have his Heisman taken away, but that the NCAA might strip the Trojans of their 2004 championship. Couple that with a tenacious Nebraska team, and I think the Huskers hang within a couple of touchdowns.

As for the NFL games, here's what I had to say about those.
