Tracking my 2007 fantasy football picks

A winner, and a reminder

Sep 14, 2006, 10:41pm | Posted by Steve

For the first half of the game West Virginia looked like monsters. They put up 28 points before the first quarter ended and appeared to be able to score at will. Then they lost interest in the game and Maryland very easily could have covered the spread, had a receiver not dropped a pass near the WVA with about 2:30 to play.

This reminded me of both the upside and the downside of betting on the Mountaineers — they have a ton of speed and can explode at anytime, but they don't yet have the killer instinct of the truly top-flight programs. The best teams may pull their starters, but they don't play sloppy, no matter the size of the lead.

West Virginia has a ways to go before joining college football's inner circle.

Still, a win's a win. I'm not complaining.

9/14 RESULT

Maryland at West Virginia (-16.5) - Win, $21.80/$20
